Country Barn Dog Grooming
Terms and Conditions
Terms and Conditions outlined below will need to be signed and agreed upon by the client on their first visit to Country Barn Dog Grooming. If you have any issues with these terms and conditions, please discuss with Samantha before your appointment commences. These standard terms and conditions are as follows:
Health and Welfare
Your dog’s health and welfare is paramount to us at Country Barn Dog Grooming. Should your dog show signs of fear or stress at any time, we may have to adopt alternative strategies to alleviate this, which may require extra time and incur an extra cost. Country Barn Dog Grooming will not force any procedure on your dog, therefore if your dog objects to any part of the groom, that part will not be performed. Price reductions will not be offered for incomplete grooms due to the dog’s behaviour. Country Barn Dog Grooming will offer help/advice to overcome your dog’s fear of working towards a full groom.
Please keep us informed of any changes to your dog’s health prior to grooming. Please do NOT bring dogs for grooming who are exhibiting signs of ill health, have been recently neutered, or bitches that are in season.
The grooming of elderly dogs is undertaken entirely at the owners’ risk. Grooming may expose underlying skin or health problems that Country Barn Dog Grooming cannot be held liable for. In the extremely rare event that an accident may occur, or a medical condition arises, you authorise us to seek emergency veterinary treatment.
Country Barn Dog Grooming will charge £20 an hour extra, broken down into £5 for every 15 minutes to allow for any extra time taken to complete the groom.
Aggressive and Poorly Socialised Dogs
We must be informed before your appointment of any previous history of biting or aggression. Muzzles will be used as a last resort but will be used if necessary. We reserve the right to refuse to groom any dog if we believe it may cause injury to itself or ourselves. If a dog exhibits aggression or behaviour that we have not been informed of before the groom, the session will be stopped immediately and the full fee will be incurred. Your attention is drawn to the Dangerous Dogs Act which holds owners liable for bites and injuries.
You understand that if you know your pet’s behaviour is not the best and they have been aggressive to any persons in the past, you will inform Country Barn Dog Grooming. Country Barn Dog Grooming is happy to groom difficult pets and they will be assessed individually. If the safety of the groomer or my pet is at risk, you understand they reserve the right to refuse or end the groom early. You understand and will pay an extra cost if Country Barn Dog Grooming wants to try again another day.
Cancellation Policy
Cancellations must be received at least 24 hours before the appointment time.
A 50% missed groom fee will apply in the following cases: if an appointment is cancelled with less than 24 hours’ notice; if for any of the reasons detailed above, a groom cannot take place; or if you do not attend your arranged appointment.
In addition, your next groom will require 50% payment in advance before another appointment can be booked. This is non-refundable in the case of cancellation less than 24 hours before the appointment.
Country Barn Dog Grooming will also add a 50% grooming fee to anyone who changes or cancels three or more consecutive appointments.
Payment and Pricing
All quoted prices are subject to:
The dog’s coat is well maintained and free from matts. The dog is well behaved, shows no aggression and is groomed at our recommended periods. The dog is not overweight or oversized for the breed. Any issues outside of this will incur an extra charge of £5 for every £15 minutes.
Whilst we are happy to work with nervous/ timid dogs, these may also incur extra charges due to the extra time and handling skills required.
Payment must be made before or upon collection of the dog. We accept cash or card payments. BACS is only accepted if these are not available at the time of collecting the dog and must be forwarded within 24 hours. Late/non payment will incur a £10 fee on outstanding amounts over seven days. Further action will be taken if payment is not made under the Fraud Act 2006. The theft of services is a crime because it involves dishonesty and the intentional avoidance of payment for services provided. Further costs will be incurred by the client in pursuit of monies outstanding through Small Claims Court.
Time Keeping/Late Pick Up
Our appointment slots are timed to each individual dog, with a period of time to try and prevent any overlap. This ensures we are not rushing to complete your dog and complies with COVID procedures. The appointment time given is the time we expect to admit you to the cabin. If you are early for your appointment, we may not be in a position to grant you immediate access. Likewise, if you are late we may have to refuse to groom your dog on that occasion. Customers who are 15 minutes late will be deemed to be a ‘no show’ and charged the full appointment fee.
I understand that Country Barn Dog Grooming grooms one pet (or group of pets from the same family) at a time and I must collect my pet at the agreed time. Pet parents who are later than 15 minutes picking up their dog will be charged a sitting fee of £5 per 15 minutes unless agreed with by Country Barn Dog Grooming.
Country Barn Dog Grooming is not a boarding kennel and does not have a boarding licence.
Knots/Matts Neglected Coats
I understand that if my pet’s coat is heavily matted or has too many knots, they will need to be clipped out as de-matting is a very painful process (imagine combing out a knot in your own hair but having that all over your body). This is not something Country Barn Dog Grooming is prepared to do (as we are all animal lovers), and it is also against the Animal Welfare Act 2006. Country Barn Dog Grooming are not here to judge and understand that sometimes this happens.
Country Barn Dog Grooming will request your permission to clip any knots beforehand, and this may incur an extra charge.
Country Barn Dog Grooming will not be responsible for any vets’ bills in the event of hematomas, cuts, irritation or grazes to the skin caused by clipping out matted fur should your pet need veterinary attention. You also understand that the desired look for your dog may not be achieved as a result of poor coat condition.
Country Barn Dog Grooming will charge £20 an hour extra, broken down into £5 for every 15 minutes extra to allow for this.
Bitches in Season/Pregnant Dogs
You will notify Country Barn Dog Grooming if you notice or suspect my bitch is in season, within 24 hours of the appointment time. Country Barn Dog Grooming reserves the right to rearrange an appointment if it will interfere with the working day or my own home with entire male dogs. I understand that if my dog is groomed whilst in season, she may be more irritable and the results achieved may not be to the normal standard, full cost as usual applies.
You understand that if you know or suspect your pet is pregnant, you will cancel within 24 hours of the appointment. Country Barn Dog Grooming does not groom pregnant pets and reserves the right to refuse a groom and implement the cancellation policy.
Fleas
You understand that if your pet is found to have fleas, there will be an extra charge on top of the groom to cover the cost of flea shampoo and cleaning of the salon. Country Barn Dog Grooming reserves the right to refuse a groom or send a pet home early in the event of fleas being found, and the cancellation policy will be implemented.
Please note that dogs with fleas cannot be accepted. If your dog has fleas, please treat them prior to visiting the salon. Should your dog be brought to us with infestation, which is discovered after the groom has started a flea surcharge of £20 will apply and your dog will be sent home.
We fully understand that this cannot always be helped, due to the weather etc… The charge is for a deep cleaning and a flea bomb, and for any cancellations of any pets on that day. Once treatment has been completed, your pet will be allowed to come back into the salon after 4 days. The last thing we want is for your pet to come to us and go home with fleas!!
Photography
Country Barn Dog Grooming will take “before” and “after” photos of every pet and will use video and images through their social media platforms. When signing the Terms and Conditions in the salon, this is agreeing for photos of your dog to be used on social media, but you will be given the opportunity to refuse this. Photos are also used for reference if any complaints arise.
Termination of Services
We reserve the right to cease providing services to any client at our sole discretion and at any time, with or without cause or prior notice. This includes, but is not limited to, situations where continued service may no longer be in the best interest of the business, staff, other clients, or the animals in our care.
The client agrees to hold Country Barn Dog Grooming harmless for any inconvenience or perceived damages resulting from the termination of services.
This policy is in place to help ensure the safety, well-being, and respectful treatment of all animals and humans involved.
